A phone call to Sister Bernadette

Sister B: Archdiocese of R., Sister Bernadette speaking. How may I help you?

J.C.Q.: Well, this is somewhat of an odd question, but my fiancé recently received a letter from an Archbishop in which a cross preceded the archbishop's name. What does it mean exactly? Should he use it in his reply letter?

Sister B: It is shorthand for "The Most Reverend," I'm pretty sure. Who is the letter from?

J.C.Q.: Umm... I don't know. But it doesn't matter. That's all I really wanted to know!

Sister B: How can't you know what his name is?

J.C.Q.: Umm... my fiancé didn't tell me

Sister B: You know, if you don't tell me, I can't help you out here.

J.C.Q.: Well, you've already answered my question, but honestly, I don't know.

Sister B: Well, what's YOUR name?

J.C.Q.: J.C.Q.

Sister B: J.C.Q. who?

J.C.Q.: [gives last name]

Sister B: And do you live in Regina, J.C.Q.?

J.C.Q.: Umm... yes.

Sister B: Then it is from your archbishop, of course!

J.C.Q.: Well, you see, the letter isn't from the Archbishop of Regina

Sister B: It is Father B., of course. That's who your Archbishop is so the letter is from him.

J.C.Q.: Yes, I know Father B. is my Archbishop. But that doesn't have anything to do with it. It wasn't from Father B.

Sister B: Well how couldn't it be?

J.C.Q.: Because my fiancé was dealing with an out-of-town diocese, I know that much.

Sister B: Ohh, I see. Well look, you're just going to have to tell me, or else I won't be able to help you.

J.C.Q.: No, seriously, if I knew I would tell you! I don't! But thanks anyway, you've already given me the answer I needed. I am just going to tell my fiancé to write back to the Archbishop and address it with the + in front now that he knows what it is.

Sister B: No no no! You most certainly can't do that! That is NOT proper protocol!

J.C.Q.: Oh, sorry. What should I put then?

Sister B: What is the guy's name?

J.C.Q.: I don't know!

Sister: Well, if it is an archbishop, then I can tell you what to write. But if it isn't, then I can't help you, see.

J.C.Q.: I know it is an archbishop.

Sister: You're sure now?

J.C.Q.: Yes.

Sister: Too bad you didn't have his name. Then I could tell you for sure.

J.C.Q.: So how would I write a letter to an archbishop?

Sister: You must put "The Most Reverend," and instead of writing "Dear so and so," put "Your Grace"

J.C.Q.: Perfect! Thanks for your help!

Sister: Yes, sorry but without that name that's all I can give you. But if you can find out whether or not he's an archbishop, address it to "The Most Reverend" in the address field, and "Your Grace" in the dear field.

J.C.Q.: This is all the info I need.

Sister: Yes, too bad you don't know the name, I guess that'll have to do. We can't do anything if you don't know the name.

J.C.Q.: Yeah, well, maybe I'll phone you back later then.

Sister: Okay, bye.

J.C.Q.: Bye.

WOW!!!

Yep and I didn't embellish it at all!

lol...awwwww, trying to be helpful i guess ;)

No no, that takes too much effort. I try to post hebdomadarily. It rarely works given my slackedness.
